There is a lot of friendly and competitive golf coming up in the next week or two.

There is a regularidad competition today. Then there is summer Tuesday and regular Friday golf this coming week.

On Sunday 11 August 2013 there is a competition in aid of the Seve Ballesteros Foundation followed by summer Tuesday golf.

The Virgen de agosto competition is scheduled for Thursday 15 August followed by regular Friday golf.

The José Lopéz Memorial competition is on Saturday 17 August. This one should be interesting as it is the first competition following BSM reducing their annual membership fee and not including a dinner with their 2 big competitions each year.

We had a very nice meal at La Zarzuela at the weekend.

This was our first visit to the restaurant and we were not disappointed.

The posters are up for this years Medieval Market. It will take place from 2 to 4 August 2013 starting at 19:00 and finishing at 01:00.

Over the last week or two we have now had at least three occasions when there have been power glitches here in Almerimar. Sometimes the electricity has been out for around 20-30 minutes, sometimes it comes straight back on. In addition, last night our phone and ADSL stopped working. The ADSL is back on but the phone is not yet working again.

Thank goodness for the mobile phone that I can tether to the laptop if I need emergency access to the internet.

We popped along and tasted the gazpachos last night. Similar types to last year but this year they were free compared with 1 euro last year. They said it was not worth bothering charging when Marion asked them.

The tasting took place after the walk/run in aid of cancer last night and finished outside the AR hotel. Close to to the Victor Fernández windsurfing centre where they now hire out bikes.

Almerimar is again hosting a gazpacho tasting event to be held outside the beach side front of the AR Hotel tomorrow evening from 9pm. (ElEjidoactualidad)

We strolled along to last year´s event and we bumed into Marion there.

The gazpachos were really tasty and well worth a visit to try them. It will also be a lot cooler at 9pm rather than in the heat of the day.

The displays of fresh produce (fruit & veg) was quite something as you can see.

Last year, the list of gazpacho´s for sampling included:

6 a capella singers of African and gospel music at the castle tonight starting at 10:30pm. According to the article here on the Portal Ejido site. I quite fancy this but I know we have to be up for Friday golf tomorrow.

It is the Jesús Hernández Trío playing flamenco jazz tomorrow night.
