The mayor of El Ejido, Francisco Góngora, has underlined the importance of continuing to demand the execution of these works since with them we seek to “decongest traffic in these two conflictive points, increase security in both enclaves and reform the connection of the A- 7, considerably improving communications through the entrances of the COPO Shopping Center, Hospital de Poniente and through the centers of Santa María del Águila and Las Norias de Daza, in addition to improving the current circulation conditions both of the branches that form the accesses and in intersection nodes "

From the Consistory an official letter has been sent to the Demarcation of Roads of Eastern Andalusia to know if there have been advances in the processing for the bidding and execution

As the first councilor has highlighted, “we understand that this action is vital for the development and expansion of the entire business and tourism fabric of the municipality, which responds to the demand in which we have been working since 2011 from this Government to alleviate the volume of traffic registered at this point "

The City Council of El Ejido has sent an official letter to the Demarcation of Roads of Eastern Andalusia, located in Granada, belonging to the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda of the Government of the Nation where it requests information on the progress in the processing of the project of 'Remodeling of links 409 and 411 of the A-7 highway' that give access to the municipality of El Ejido.

The mayor of El Ejido, Francisco Góngora, has underlined the importance of continuing to demand the execution of these works since with them we seek to “decongest traffic in these two conflictive points, increase security in both enclaves and reform the connection of the A- 7, considerably improving communications through the entrances of the COPO Shopping Center, Hospital de Poniente and through the centers of Santa María del Águila and Las Norias de Daza, in addition to improving the current circulation conditions both of the branches that form the accesses and in the intersection nodes ”.

As the first mayor has highlighted “we understand that this action is vital for the development and expansion of the entire business and tourism fabric of the municipality the execution of this project that responds to the demand in which we have been working from the Local Government to alleviate the volume of traffic registered at this point ”. This project has a global budget of around 4 million euros.

Precisely during this time, numerous meetings have been held and contact has been made with the competent administration for the execution of the works to find out the current status of the project. It is worth mentioning that on October 25, 2018, the General Directorate of Roads, Demarcation of Roads of the State of Eastern Andalusia, dependent on the Ministry of Development, reported in a letter sent to the City Council that the company in charge was drafting the project called 'Project of Construction: Improvement of links 409 and 411 of the A-7 Mediterranean motorway in the province of Almería 'for that Demarcation, requesting information about the municipally owned infrastructures that could be affected by the scope of the works. This requested information was sent by the City Council to that Demarcation in December 2018.

Subsequently, from the Consistory, work meetings have been held both with the technicians in charge of drafting the project, as well as with the technicians of the Demarcation of Roads of Eastern Andalusia to study and comment on various points related to said action, as well as to check the status processing in which it is found.

Góngora has indicated that, therefore, through the Public Works area, “we have sent an official letter requesting information on the level of development of the referred project, as well as if there have been advances in the processing for its next bidding and execution and the expected deadlines ”.

As for the project, it will consist of the remodeling of two existing links on the A-7 Mediterranean motorway located at kilometer 409 and 411 of this road. Regarding the 409 junction, currently a diamond type with weight-type intersections, for its improvement, an increase and improvement of the roundabout platforms has been projected, as well as the expansion of the overpass over the trunk of the highway, through the construction of another structure parallel to the existing one, which can house two lanes in each direction, a bicycle lane and a sidewalk for pedestrians. Additionally, it is proposed to increase the exit capacity of the highway by doubling the width of the deceleration branches and segregating the turn to the right of the roundabouts.

Link 411 is a mixed type: diamond type with T-intersection for the north link, and partial cloverleaf for the south link. The actions that have been planned for its improvement are the transformation of the southern link to a diamond type, the construction of closed roundabouts, one to the north and the other to the south, and the rearrangement of the existing intersections. Likewise, the current speed change lanes of the link are of a direct type, therefore, it is proposed to transform them to a parallel type, also extending their length.

Since 2011, the Government Team has been demanding the execution of these very necessary works for the municipality, to which we must add that conservation work on exit 411 has already been carried out, as an emergency action prior to the remodeling project , which consisted of raising the level of the road by up to one meter in some points to avoid the problems that the accumulation of rainwater generated in that section.
