Rather than just sit in all day and watch the golf Jacqui and I decided that we would have a stroll along the prom on the lakes side of town then call in to the gazpacho event (see separate article).
We walked along a big part of the prom. From the car park near the church up to Mare Nostrum then all the way back down to the town again.
Read More for details and you can see loads of photos from the poniente prom here in the Gallery.
We strolled past the rugby pitch and noticed the screen where they are running an outdoor cinema for the summer.
We noticed that the hotel gardens looked pretty busy as we went past.
Next was the new windsurfing school and shop in one of the chiringuitos on the beach.
Then we reached Chiringuito Franc (used to be El Tuerto) where we met John and Issie who were on the way back from a stroll along the prom.
It was good to see that all of the chiringuitos that we went past were open. Including one that seems to be set up like a cocktail bar.
We turned around just outside Mare Nostrum and while there took a photo of the new blue and white beach flags that the lakes beach has earned this year.
We then made our way back down the prom towards Almerimar.
One thing we did notice was that there were a lot of people out on the beach along the full length of our walk. It is good to see lots of people in town for the summer.
There are loads more photos from the day here in the Gallery.
