The route has been established under a number of conditions imposed by the Junta, such as respect for the existing signage on the margins of the road, especially with regard to use of vehicles.
The Junta de Andalucía, through the Provincial Delegation of Environment of Almería, has authorised a travel company specialising in performing all-terrain vehicle (ATV) tours to provide tours in the nature reserve of Punta Entinas Sabinar, between Roquetas de Mar and El Ejido. Based on the Junta´s regional role in administration and management of protected natural areas.
The request from the travel agency was made on 12 July 2012. They have shown they have draft scenic routes in the nature reserve, as well as having a code of good practice during the development of these tours.
The route will start at Puerta de los Cerrillos, near Charcón del Hornillo and runs along the path of the Salinas de Cerrillos to Torre de Cerrillos. This is in the reserve that houses one of the best preserved dune systems of the Peninsula in its 1,960 hectares.
The route has been established under a number of conditions imposed by the Junta, such as respect for the existing signage on the margins of the road, especially with regard to use of vehicles. Similarly, SUVs used "shall not leave the network of tracks on the natural landscape which has been authorised for the trip."
Also "the recommended speed for driving on the natural area should not exceed 30 kilometres per hour" and should "always respect the guidelines for conservation and wise use of the site."
The permit has a validity period to the end of next year.
