From bad to worse: Almería exceeds 500 positives and adds six deaths from covid

The number of hospitalized patients grows by 22 covid patients and there are three more in the ICU

The fifth wave of the coronavirus pandemic does not give truce to the province of Almería, which this Monday has again registered more than 500 new positives for coronavirus and has added six deaths in a single blow, which makes the incidence continue to increase and the concern of the health authorities.

As stated in the daily update of the Covid Portal carried out by the Ministry of Health and Families of the Junta de Andalucía, in particular there have been 543 people from Almeria who have tested positive for a PCR or an antigen test in the last 24 hours. which brings the total number of infections detected since March 2020 to 63,026.

Today's more than 500 cases have arrived, again, on a Tuesday and, as happened last Tuesday, July 27, the epidemiological data reported is once again the worst since February, in the middle of the third wave. This, as Health sources revealed to LA VOZ, occurs due to a lag during the weekend in the data count in one of the three districts. And on this occasion, it is again the capital that accumulates a large part of the new positives, since of the 543 notified, with 249, more than 45% of the total.

Six deceased

The same occurs with the number of reported deaths, which today has been six new deaths from coronavirus, which already leaves 853 residents of the province who have lost their lives after being infected with coronavirus. The six deceased, according to the IECA, have been notified in the capital (2), Níjar (1), Garrucha (1), Macael (1) and Berja (1).

As if the 'bad' data registered in the province were few, if the number of hospitalized patients is taken care of, the situation does not improve, since Health has notified in the last 24 hours the admission of 22 patients in the hospitals of Almeria, Torrecárdenas, Poniente and La Inmaculada, of which three have required to be admitted to the ICU due to the severity with which the virus has affected them.

The only positive data this Tuesday comes in the number of recovered patients, which has been 94, well below the number of new positives, which is why the number of active cases in the province, that is, of people who are currently infected and can transmit the virus, which as of August 3 stood at 5,939.

Andalusia

For its part, Andalusia registers a total of 4,459 cases of coronavirus this Tuesday, August 3, similar to those added between Monday and Sunday and lower than the 4,754 of last Tuesday, according to data consulted by Europa Press in the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalusia (IECA), which has recorded 23 deaths, the worst figure since May 11, when 54 people died.

On the other hand, the cumulative incidence rate of the community registers 33 consecutive days of increases and stands at 597.6 per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, 13.3 points more in 24 hours and 61.5 points more in a week.
