On Saturday the Poniente beach of Almerimar hosted a "Night of Stars in the Light of the Moon ". About a hundred parents and children aged 4 to 14, have participated in this initiative organszed by the Department of Tourism of the City of El Ejido and the Almerimar junta local.
The early participants started to arrive at about 8pm for this event which has aroused great interest among both young and old. With backpacks carrying everything you need to spend a night on the beach plus sleeping bags, tents, flashlights, food and cold drinks for dinner, they began to take their places on the sand. Throughout the night they took part in various entertainment activities and games for children plus they observed the stars with their parents through a powerful telescope.
To end the activity early in the morning, participants in "Night of Stars in the Light of the Moon" practiced tai chi near the seashore and then replenished their strength with a breakfast of churros with chocolate.
Councillor for Tourism of the City of El Ejido, Luisa Barranco, was very satisfied with "The excellent reception given to this activity. We expect it to become a tourist attraction for all visitors, as the experience has been wonderful for both children and parents. "
This event on the Poniente beach of Almerimar, close to the snack bar La Cabaña, is another of the novelties in the programme launched by the municipality of El Ejido for this summer. The first 'Night of Stars in the Light of the Moon' joined the 'Fashion Show for Virgen del Carmen', the 'Sleepless Night' and '1001 Gazpachos' events that have been held already in Almerimar this summer.
These new activities are added to the other traditional summer events, developed by the departments of Tourism and Culture and also by the Municipal Sports Institute (IMD). Also gymnastics for all on the beach that takes place for the first time this year organised by Social Services.
There are over 100 different activities scheduled throughout the municipality, especially in Almerimar "as the core and major tourist attraction where it is intended to encourage citizen participation. Something is being achieved, because people are taking to the streets" commented the head of El Ejido Tourism, Luisa Barranco a few days ago.
