Thanks to Alfredo from the tourist office for this information about Easter 2018. He has also picked out some highlights:

"A selection of the most attractive ones for tourists and foreign residents might be:

- Thursday 29th March, 19:00 (Balerma): Our Father Jesus Nazarene and Our Lady of Sorrows procession (with meeting)
- Thursday 29th March, 23:00 (Santo Domingo): Most holy Christ of Love Penance Procession and Stations of the Cross procession (silent procession)
- Friday 30th March, 20:30 (Santa María del Águila): Most Holy Christ of Peace and Our Lady of Sorrows procession (with meeting)
- Friday 30th March, 19:30 (El Ejido): Procession of penance (with meeting by the Auditorium roundabout, along with military escort by the Spanish Legion)"

The Sol Times site has details of the Il Divo concert in Almería later this year. You can see details here.

Tickets start at 50 euros each and go on sale on Tuesday 27 February 2018.

I think I know at least one person who will be trying to get tickets.

Plastic Festival 2018

Just picked up information about this event in El Ejido via the town hall website. Looks like there is an afternoon and night of Spanish Indie music taking place on Saturday 21 April 2018. Around the time of the San Marcos fiesta.

You can see more information about the event and buy tickets for it here.

According to the article here on the Olive Press site there should be a Super Blue Blood Moon visible tonight.

It sounds like at some point the moon will be big and red. Lets hope there are not too many clouds around.

Almerimar Tapas Route 2018

Looks like there are 9 bars taking part in the 2018 tapas route competition. From Friday 2 February to Sunday 11 February. Perhaps a good reason for a tapas based pub crawl or two next week?

I picked up this photo from the Junta Local Facebook page.

Kings Parade - Almerimar - 5 January 2018

I have been a bit busy recently and I am still catching up.....

Here is a photo of the Kings Parade in Almerimar on 5 January 2018. I have lifted this from the Almerimar Junta Local Facebook page. You can see more3 photos from the parade on the Facebook page. Also, please note that you do not need to have a Facebook account to view the page.

We have just received a message saying there are only around 15 tickets left for the Almerimar Burn's Night Supper on Saturday 27 January 2018.

You can see a little more information about the event in the article here.

Please get in touch if you want more information about the event.

Choir In Church - 23 Dec 17

Just back from listening to the El Ejido choir in the church in Almerimar. A very enjoyable experience.

Representatives of the Junta Local were there taking videos. So I will link to their videos once they put them up on the internet.

In the meantime, here is a photo of the choir. If you look closely you can spot at least 4 people you can recognise if you either play golf at Almerimar or know people from the El Ejido bowls club.

From one of our readers Alan...

For a great way to start off your Christmas celebrations why not make a date to listen to the El Ejido Choral. They are giving a concert in the church on the Almerimar marina. The concert is on Saturday 23rd December at 8-30pm. There will be a mixture of well loved Christmas songs, both international and Spanish.
Entrance is free so be sure to come along and enjoy some festive music at the start of Christmas.

Xmas Cake Competition 2017

Christina G has been in touch with information about events in Almerimar for Christmas 2017.

You can see some details above. In addition here is some information about a cake competition.....

"The Christmas cake competition is open to everyone, cakes need to be delivered to the marquee between 4 and 6 on Saturday afternoon and will be judged at 6.30, when the prize for the best cake will be given. Afterwards, portions of the cakes will be for sale for 1 euro, hot chocolate and other beverages will be available for the same price. The funds obtained will later be donated to a local charity. The event takes place on Saturday the 16th."

My understanding is that the El Ejido choir will be singing in the Almerimar church on the evening of Saturday 23 December 2017.

My guess is that some or all of the music will be Christmas music.

As yes, I do not have any further details. Once I have more information I will publish it here.
