Almerimar

I have not had time to post much stuff on here recently. Last Saturday we flew to the UK to attend a wake for my uncle. He died alone in hospital during the pandemic. We have only just got to the point where the family felt it was safe to attend a celebration of my uncle´s life. It was great for 19 of us to get together not far from Middlesbrough on last Sunday.

After the wake we flew back to Spain on the Monday.

During the Saturday to the Monday my uncle must have been looking down from heaven giving us a gift of some great footy results.

On Saturday the Boro won 3-1 at home in the afternoon against Stoke. So that was a good start to the day. It got even better later in the day as UD Almería won 0-2 away at Burgos. You can see some highlights from the UD Almería match here on the Diario de Almería site.

The next result going in our favour was on Monday.  Luton lost 7-0 against Fulham. Putting a big dent in their goal difference. The Boro are now in 7th place, two points behind both Luton and Sheffield United. So there is a chance that the Boro might make the play offs. With 1 game to play next weekend.

Things got ever better when we were driving home from Málaga airport on Monday night. Third place Valladolid lost at home 1-2 to relegation threatened Real Sociedad B.

This puts UD Almería one point behind Eibar, who are in first place. We are now 4 points ahead of 3rd place Valladolid with 4 matches to play.

The great news is that Eibar play Valladolid next Sunday. This means that if UD Almería beat Amorebieta on Saturday we will be even closer to achieving direct promotion to La Liga. As one or both Eibar and Valladolid are guaranteed to miss out on some points.
