Almerimar

Cars piled up in Almería

After having had a look at the news for the Málaga, Almería and Murcia area of Spain it looks like we got away lightly.

We had a couple of very heavy downpours in Almerimar yesterday and have had a bit of drizzle today. Although it is clearing up a bit now.

There have been people killed, motorways closed and cars piled one on top of each other by the flooding elsewhere in the region. The picture above is from the Ideal site.

The picture above is at the end of the first downpour around 9am this morning. The next picture is from around 11am after we had got back from cancelling  Friday golf.

The final picture was around 2-3 minutes after the one above and shows the worst of the rain passing through. All 3 were taken out of the window in our living room.

Hopefully this will help fill up the reservoirs a little.

According to the article here on the Euro Weekly News site. Judging by the forecast for tomorrow I think they could fill up a bit.

We might have to cancel Friday golf tomorrow if it too rainy.

Although the article here on the Think Spain site is about the whole of Spain Jacqui thinks it applies to Almerimar as well. She said that last night was one of the hottest she has ever remembered. Sadly it was just the temperature she was talking about.

Hot, hot, hot and that´s just a description of me what with reading 50 Shades of Grey plus watching Tom Daley diving in the Olympics!!!

It also applies to the weather here for the next week, in the low 30s on average. The wind will pick up late some afternoons, quite strong too from the west.

We´re playing in the Virgen de Agosto competition here at Almermar tomorrow 08.45am shotgun start zzzzzz. We will have plenty of suncream on, iced water in cool  bags and brollies up for some shade especially as it will probably be a long round as the format is Medal.

Jacqui and I saw some rain today. A very unusual experience for August over here. I accompanied Jacqui on a trip into the province of Murcia today.

On the way home we had around 10 spots of rain on the windscreen as we were passing along the motorway around the Mojacar turn-off. I think that may be it for our summer rainfall this year.

Judging by the weather this morning it looks like we may have someone wishing to take over the Maid of the Mist title from Jules. Or perhaps we have a Floosie of the Fret in town.

It is just after 9 in the morning and I can hardly see out of the window.

It was murder at golf today and we have had to close most of the windows in the apartment to stop the dust coming in.

Wow it is windy now. I am glad it wasn´t like this earlier for golf.

For the third night in a row we have considered going to the Medieval Market but I don´t think we will be moving from the sofas.

Golf is going to be a bit difficult this morning if the mist doesn´t burn off by 10:48.

Wow it is hot and sticky today. I am sweating buckets at the moment and I am doing nothing more than pottering around at home.

The article here on the Ideal site is confirming what we know. It is hot hot hot at the moment.

Looking out of our window this morning I can hardly see the see for the mist. I guess it is going to be a hot day again once the mist burns off.

It was pretty windy playing in the Virgen del Carmen golf yesterday. The wind seems to be even stronger today. It is going to be fun when they take the statue out to sea this evening if it is still blowing like this.
