We have just returned from a week away in Ireland to find the strong winds continuing in Almerimar. When will the bad weather here ever end?

A friend sent me the video above last night. The video was taken yesterday afternoon on the roads near La Mojonera, not far from Almerimar.

We played golf in the morning yesterday and there was a bit of thunder and a few flashes in the sky not far from El Ejido around lunchtime. However we did not notice anything later in the day.

We had to drive up to El Ejido this morning. As you can see from the photo below there was some white stuff on top of the hills behind El Ejido.

Hail 1 May 2018 - Hills behind El Ejido - 2 May 2018

I am sick and tired of this crappy weather. I think this has been the worst autumn, winter and spring since we moved here over 13 years ago.

I do not think it has been the wettest winter. In the past we have had some very heavy downpours. However there seems to have been a lot more wet days this autumn, winter and spring. We seem to have had a lot of drizzly days.

On top of that it feels like the wind has never stopped for months on end. We cancelled a game of golf yet again today due to high winds.

I really hope we get back to our normal weather sometime soon.

I could not resist putting on a link to the story here on the Olive Press site.

The bad weather has returned again. Windy and rainy this afty.

Jacqui and I recently went away for a short break to Tenerife. When we left there was wet and windy weather. Now when we have returned there is wet and windy weather.

I think this is one of the worst winters for weather we have seen in the more than 10 years we have lived here. I guess that at least we have not had any snow this winter. Unlike 2005.

Hopefully things will start improving soon.

Weather warning - 5 March 2018

It has been raining all morning and it looks like it will be pretty windy later. According to the weather warning here on the Sol Times site.

Been busy with a golf competition the last few days so have not had much opportunity to post here. Have had a look around various sites but it seems like a period of slow news at the moment.

The only thing I can mention is that it looks like it will be 11 m/s wind on Sunday afternoon. Great for the windsurfers. However, I am not sure they will like the 1cm of rain that is forecast for Sunday.

It is then forecast to be windy with a small amount of rain from Monday to Wednesday. After that the wind drops again, thank goodness. Maximum temperatures are not much higher than 16 degrees so it will feel a little cold I guess.

Not too much sleep in our place last night due to the wind. The effect of the Christmas pudding, mince pies, brandy sauce and sage & onion stuffing probably had a bit of an impact. However storm Bruno had a bigger one.

So far we have not had any rain. However the windows and shutters were rattling a lot overnight. Plus there are white horses on the sea now even though the wind has dropped a little.

We were thinking of going out for a bike ride today. No chance of that now.

Our lovely late autumn sunshine seems to have disappeared.

This morning I woke up to wet and windy winter weather. The rain has slowed down a bit in the last few minutes. However the forecast has not very nice weather all day.

Sea fret - 22 October 17

What a time we have had with the weather recently. It feels like we have had 3 seasons in 5 days.

Last Wednesday I posted a picture of a winter looking hailstorm. Yesterday I posted a picture from Friday of the golf course in the sunshine with snow on the mountains. This could have been the beginning of summer as the snow does not normally disappear until around June. Today we woke up to the sight of typical autumn sea fret covering the golf course.

It is still reasonably warm though. Our indoor/outdoor thermometer is registering 22.4 degrees from the sensor hung in the shade on our terrace wall.

Hail - 18 October 17

Wow - summer is gone. This is a picture of the hail storm earlier this morning. As well as hail, rain and strong winds we also had a power cut.

Just before the storm started we heard a rocket go off. I guess this was the management of the golf course telling all off the long stay swedes and hotel guests to get off the course.

The only good thing about it is the golf course has been crying out for some rain for some time. So I guess the weather will cool down the greens and help the grass grow a bit.

We should be expecting a warmer, drier autumn this year according to the article here on the Olive Press site.

No fans on in the bedroom overnight and we even have a duvet cover on the bed (without a duvet of course).

Plus the early morning temperature on our terrace is only 22 degrees. The real temperature is probably less than this as the thermometer is on the wall so is probably showing some stored heat from the wall.

Summer is nearly over and most of the swimming pools in the urbanisations in Almerimar are closed or will close soon.

It will soon be time for me to cover up my white legs again until next summer.

As you can see from the story here on the Euro Weekly News site we are feeling a bit hot at the moment.
