We are still having some hot days when there is not too much breeze about. However the temperature has become much more bearable in the last week or two.

It looks like the hot hot summer is coming to end in Almerimar. The duvet cover is out and in use again on some nights. A sure sign that autumn is not far away.

Wow it was windy last night and is continuiung today. Looks like it drops for tomorrow and the next week or so thank goodness.

We even has a few spits and spots of rain last night. I guess we probably will not see much more of that until the autumn now.

Rainy day in Almerimar

As you can see it was a bit rainy in Almerimar this morning. As usual the road in to the port at Dársena 1 was overflowing as the drains cannot cope with a sudden downpour.

We were nearly blown off the course playing in the last FGS Sunday competition of the spring yesterday. Wow was it windy.

It looks like it is pretty windy today and tomorrow as well. I was planning to take part in Tuesday golf tomorrow but I think I will give it a miss as is showing 7-8 m/s wind speed.

As we are now finding out we are just approaching fruit fly and hay fever season. Fine for those with fly screens at home and those who buy loratadina tablets from the chemists and take one a day. Not so good for those people who have to fish the fruit flies out of their wine glasses or put up with streaming noses and eyes.

Taking a look at the long term forecast for Almerimar it looks like it will be better weather for windsurfers than golfers the next few days. There is even the threat of a little rain on some of the days. Also the maximum temperature is dropping a bit but looks to be building again by the end of the week.

We still have another month or two of having to check the weather charts. After that it is likely to be just like it used to say on The Fast Show - scorchio.

There are a number of signs that summer is not far off.

The temperature is in the 20s pretty regularly now. The summer grass is starting to grow again on the golf course. The number of Swedes in town is gradually going down now the long stay visitors are going home. We had a night in the toldo on our terrace last night and we did not need the patio heater. Jacqui is currently sunbathing on the terrace for the first time this year.

However it will probably be at least another 3 - 4 months before you are likely to see my bare legs on the golf course.

So far we have had a really good winter. However just when you think it should get better things take a turn for the worse. It has been cold and rainy for the last day or two and looks to be continuing for a while. Hopefully this will be just about the end of the bad weather and spring/summer will be upon us soon.

It must be spring now. For the first time this year Jacqui has ventured on to our terrace to take in some rays. The sunbed and bikini top are getting some action.

The outdoor temperature in the shade on the remote sensor above our terrace door is 24 degrees at the moment. A slight breeze and bright sunshine. I wonder why we moved to Spain?

Spring mist - 2 March 2015

The photo above is from our terrace at about 9:40am this morning. It looks like the spring mists have arrived.

Any early morning golfers may be in a bit of trouble today.

No doubt it will burn off later.

Sunny Monday 16 February 2015

Sunny Monday 16 February 2015

Wet Tuesday 17 February 2015

We certainly have some good days and bad days here in winter. The photos above are from Monday and Tuesday this week, 16 and 17 February 2015. You can certainly tell which golf took place and which didn't.

The third photo was from our terrace yesterday morning before the heavens opened all day.

We wish Sune and Marianne better look for their golf that is re-arranged for today.

It must have been not so good weather up in the mountains. I was driving around town this morning and looked up to see snow covered mountains. Very pretty indeed.

If I get the chance I will take a picture at some point.

It was only 15 degrees when we drove the car down to the course for a knock-about this afternoon. The breeze was chilly and I was wearing thick trousers and a fleece. Jacqui had full length trousers and a wind proof jacket.

Imagine our surprise when we spotted a number of people on the course in shorts and one just wearing a polo shirt on his top half with nothing else on top of it. They must have felt frozen.

tree down on golf course - 1 Feb 15

Further to John's story earlier. Here is a photo from my Facebook page of one of the trees that blew down on the golf course in the high winds on Saturday.

Windy Almerimar - 31 January 2015

As you can see from the photos above the very windy weather in Almerimar yesterday has caused quite a lot of damage as well as very big waves.

It was probably the windiest it has ever been in my time here. This after what so far has probably been my best winter here for weather since we arrived in 2004.

The good news is that it is back to sunshine and not much wind today for the FGS Sunday golf competition.

When I looked on Saturday the forecast for Sunday, yesterday and today was terrible. Lots of rain every day. As it turns out the golfers in Almerimar have been very lucky.

We managed to get around on Sunday with only a few spits and spots. Then yesterday Mel's golfers got around before the heavens opened. It poured down last night.

Now Marianne & Sune's Tuesday golfers appear to be getting round in sunshine with some cloud.

There is more rain forecast for tonight and then a few showers later in the week. Nevertheless it is still by far the best winter weather we have had in years.

So far we have had one of the best winters since we moved here around 10 years ago. Not much rain and less wind than in previous years.

However it looks like the next 2-3 days might bring us some rain. I guess the greens on the course will appreciate it more than the golfers.

Following the heavy rain on Tuesday the snow is now back on the mountains. If Jacqui and I remember we will take a few pictures of it at Friday golf today.
